COST
The cost for Kensington Summer Day Camp is $205.00 per week (except week 4, July 6-9, $160). This fee covers all transportation costs, snacks, entrance fees, activities, and a KCC Summer Camp T-shirt for field trips. A limited number of partial scholarships will be available. All fees must be paid and all forms completed by June 1, 2010, for the first five weeks of camp, and by July 1, 2010, for the last five weeks of camp. Children whose parents or guardians have not paid fees in full may not attend camp. A nonrefundable deposit of $50 per child per week is required with the application. The $50 deposit is deducted from the balance due for camp. If a week is full and space is not available, applicants will be notified immediately. We cannot refund fees if a child drops out after a week begins.
WHAT DO THEY DO IN CAMP ALL DAY?
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are in camp days. Monday morning starts with an all camp meeting in the recreation building where campers meet each other and the camp director explains safety rules, camp boundaries, and the week’s schedule. Following the meeting, the fun begins! Our tennis instructor divides the camp into three levels - beginning, intermediate and advanced. Everyone has the opportunity of 50 minutes of tennis on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. While a third of the camp is at tennis, the rest are playing games like ping pong, capture the flag, or infinity tag, participating in art projects, or learning new indoor or outdoor games. At 11:45 a.m., tennis ends and lunch begins. By 12:30 p.m., with everyone fed and rested, our specialty classes begin on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. On Fridays, campers celebrate the end of the week with a barbeque. Each day at camp we have both structured activities for everyone and free time to choose activities.
FIELD TRIP DAYS
Every Wednesday the yellow Michael’s Transportation bus pulls into the community center parking lot, and the bus driver sounds the horn. Each counselor is in charge of shepherding a small group of campers during the field trip. We return to Kensington by mid- to late afternoon, where the campers end the day playing games with the counselors.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
Safety and respect for others are fundamental to camp. We want each of our campers to enjoy and feel safe at KCC Summer Camp. We will notify parents to request help in resolving behavior issues of a child. If disruptive behavior continues, the child will not be allowed to stay in camp. Any behavior deemed dangerous by the staff will result in dismissal from camp.
