WHAT DO THEY DO IN CAMP ALL DAY?
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are in camp days. Monday morning starts with an all camp meeting in the
recreation building where campers meet each other and the camp director explains safety rules, boundaries, and
the week’s schedule. Following the meeting, fun begins! Our tennis instructor divides the camp into three groups,
primarily by age and ability. During the 50-minute lesson, everyone gets to hit the ball and learn the tennis basics,
every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. While a third of the camp is at tennis, the remaining campers are playing
ping-pong, capture the flag, bouncing balls, drawing, making crafts, or other self-directed activities. By 12:15
everyone is ready for lunch. After lunch, specialty classes begin. Specialty instructors teach a targeted special
interest lesson to our campers. Examples of specialty interests include carpentry, engineering, jewelry design, circus
and cooking. These too are 50-minutes group lessons held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. When campers are
not in class, they have the opportunity to engage in all-camp sport, make a craft, or enjoy some free unstructured
time.
FIELD TRIP DAYS
Every Wednesday the yellow Michael’s Transportation bus pulls into the community center parking lot, and the bus
driver sounds the horn. Campers meet in the community center, wearing their new camp KCC Summer Camp T-shirt.
Campers are divided into travel groups and assigned a counselor. If you have a specific friend you want to be with,
please let us know ahead of time. We return to Kensington by 4:00pm. Campers end their day with snack and
relaxation.
DISCIPLINE
Safety and respect for others are fundamentals to camp. We want each of our campers to enjoy and feel safe at KCC
summer camp. We will notify parents to request help in resolving behavior issues of a child. If disruptive behavior
continues, the child will not be allowed to stay in camp. Any behavior deemed dangerous by staff will result in
dismissal from camp.
REGISTRATION
Registration will start on Monday, March 11th. On-line registration is here! For those wanting a
first hand lesson or families paying by check/cash, KCC Summer Camp On-Line Registration Kick-Off will
be held Monday, March 11th from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at the KCC Office/Recreation Building. The
Recreation Building has Internet connection. Bring your laptop and credit card. KCC will walk you
