Kensington After School Enrichment Program
59 Arlington Avenue
Kensington, CA 94707
Map

The Kensington After School Enrichment Program (KASEP) offers a wonderful variety of classes to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. There are three sessions each year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Registration for the Spring 2008 session of KASEP will be held at the Kensington Community Center on Wednesday, March 5th, starting at 6:45 pm for Kindergarten and 7:15 for grades 1-6. Our Spring session begins Monday, March 31, and continues until Friday, June 6.

KASEP Classes are available for both AM and PM kindergarten students. KASEP classes are held in the morning before school begins for those enrolled in the afternoon kindergarten class and are held immediately after school for those students enrolled in morning kindergarten classes at Hilltop. Kindergarten parents do not need to escort their children to and from KASEP classes. KASEP teachers walk p.m. kindergarten students up to school after their KASEP class and a.m. kindergarten students down to their KASEP classes after school.

Students in Grades 1-6 walk down on their own after school to their KASEP classes. For students attending Neighborhood School, a Neighborhood School care-provider will escort students back to Neighborhood after their KASEP classes. Please call Neighborhood School at 510-236-5901 for more details.

Some FAQs about KASEP follow:

How do I enroll?

A brochure with class information will be sent home from school during the week of February 26. Please fill out the lottery slip in the packet and turn it in to the KCC office (in the Recreation Building next to the park) by 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4. We have a lottery drawing mid-day to determine the order of registration. By 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, we post all the names in their order for registration at the Community Center and Recreation Building. We will also post the names in their order on the website listed at the bottom of the page. Registration for classes begins at 6:45 p.m. that evening in the Community Center for kindergarten students and at 7:15 p.m. for grades 1-6.

What types of classes are offered?

KASEP and KCC offer athletic and movement oriented classes (tennis, sports and games, karate, dance, basketball and gymnastics), art and craft classes (sewing, pottery, carpentry, drawing/painting), music classes (keyboards and recorder), and other enrichment classes (creative writing, cooking, Japanese, Spanish and girls' "serendipity").

Where are classes held?

KASEP classes are held in the Kensington Recreation Building, Community Center, and park, all just west and downhill from Kensington Hilltop School.
